Aim of the Programme

Students have the opportunity to work in other fields related to their profession through elective courses in design, brand communication and advertising. "Graphic Design" education aims to manage communication from an interdisciplinary perspective and to reveal the innovative and creative process of the field. Thus, it is aimed to enable students to gain the knowledge and skills to expand their business areas, to recognise trends in new concepts and visual language applications and to reflect them to their own productions. 

It is a fact that we need academicians and researchers specialised in graphic design and communication in our country. With the increase in the number of Fine Arts Faculties, the need for specialists trained in this field has increased. Today, the definition of graphic designer required by the sector has expanded and the need for designers who have been educated at postgraduate level and who will take part in the research and development phase has started to be needed. This programme has been designed by taking into consideration the demands of the students of the Graphics Department at the undergraduate level to open a Graphic Design Master's programme. It is aimed to meet the need for qualified workforce with the responsibility of training expert graphic designers and young academicians in the field.

Structure of the Programme

Doğuş University Graphic Design Master's Programme can be done optionally with or without thesis. 

Graphic Design Master's programme with thesis consists of at least seven courses and a non-credit seminar course and thesis study, provided that they are not less than twenty-one credits in total. The number of courses and the total number of credits can be increased with the decision of the institute board and the approval of the senate. "Seminar Course" and "Thesis Study" are non-credit and are evaluated as "pass" or "fail". A master's programme with thesis consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses including seminar course and thesis study, provided that one academic year is not less than 60 ECTS credits. The student has to register for the thesis period every semester starting from the semester following the appointment of the advisor at the latest.

Graphic Design master's programme without thesis consists of at least 10 (ten) courses and "Term Project" course, provided that it is not less than thirty credits and 60 ECTS. "Term Project" course is non-credit and is evaluated as "successful" or "unsuccessful".
