Objectives and Structure
The conditions of contemporary life have made the knowledge, methods and techniques of psychology increasingly essential in all sectors. Our age is a period of stress with its rapid movement, unexpected events, socioeconomic pressures and more. As a result of these pressures, it is of great importance that the person develops her life functions, increases her ability to cope with problems, recognizes herself, improves her harmony and observes them and makes empathy briefly. Therefore, the majority of our graduate psychologists want to specialize in the field of psychology, to deepen their knowledge in this field and to contribute to the society and science in this field.
Doğuş University's graduate education aims to meet the demands of our graduates for specialization in psychology and to contribute to the fulfillment of social needs. Doğuş University's graduate programs in Psychology have been diversified by taking the aims of our graduates into consideration to use this information and the sectors in which they want to work.
The target audience of the Master's Program in Psychology with Thesis is those who have min. 55 ALES score among those who have a bachelor's degree in psychology or related fields. Another characteristic of the target group addressed by the Master's Program with Thesis is that they want to use their gains in psychology to conduct research on the subject. In this respect, the target audience is strongly considering future doctorate education. The roadmap of this audience is heading towards academic life. The areas where the graduates of Psychology Master's Degree Program can be employed are health institutions, forensic institutions, private inclination institutions, research centers of business and industry, and of course, ultimately higher education institutions.
The target audience of the Psychology Master's Program without Thesis is those who have a bachelor's degree in psychology or related fields. Another feature of the target group addressed by the Master's Program without Thesis is that they want to work in the field after the education. The areas where graduates of Psychology Non-Thesis Master Program can be employed include health institutions, forensic institutions, private inclination institutions, business and industry fields.
The Program Structure
Psychology Master Program
with/without thesis include compulsory courses such as research methods and
data analysis, occupational and research ethics, psychopathology, and
psychotherapy as well as various elective courses that students can choose
based on their own interest. Students also have the opportunity to choose the
courses like psychological and neuropsychological tests, neuropsychology,
forensic psychology, development psychology and supervision.
After completing 12 ACTS of
compulsory courses and 12 ACTS of elective courses in two semesters of master
program with thesis, students are expected to write a master thesis of 55 AKTS.
The ones who successfully complete the academic terms will be qualified for
getting “Master Degree in Psychology (with thesis)”.
After completing 15 AKTS of
compulsory courses and 15 AKTS of elective courses in two semesters of master
program without thesis, students are expected to prepare Term Project of 15
AKTS in one semester in order to do independent research and gain skills for
manuscript preparation in psychology. The ones who successfully complete the
academic terms will be qualified for getting “Master Degree in Psychology”.
