The course focuses on research methods used in clinical psychology, research designs and data analysis methods. Researches in the literature are analyzed methodically and their strengths and weaknesses are examined critically. Professional and ethical principles in conducting and publishing research are explained.

The course describes the diagnostic criteria in the current version of DSM-5 and students learn diagnosis. The differences between DSM-5 and DSM-IV and the reasons of these changes are explained.

In this course, it is aimed to comprehend professional limits and to reflect these limits to practice. Students develop the ability to establish relationship with the client, analyze cases in accordance with the theories they have already learned, and acquire the ability to apply theories in the field. They develop the ability to collaborate with members of other professions (eg doctors, nurses, social workers). They acquire the ability to determine which technique is appropriate for the client's problem and to apply in practice in a healthy way. The aim of the course is to improve students' self-knowledge.

The aim of the course is to gain the ability to determine the appropriate psychotherapy techniques for mental and behavioral diagnostic categories. The ability of doing psychotherapy with each technique is developed through dramatization of the technique in question. In this course, the theories underlying the different psychotherapy techniques are provided to comprehend.

In this course, ethical theories are introduced and classified. Selected ethical theories are examined deeply. Research and publication ethics, medical ethics and bioethics are examined in depth. Implementation of ethical principles on respecting for professional boundaries, the importance of clinical skills and competencies, solving professional problems, healthy and professional psychotherapeutic decisions are explained and examined.

The aim of the course is to identify the deficiencies, conflicting findings or problems in the field of clinical psychology. The student meets with experts working in the university or in the field for possible thesis topics and attends brainstorming sessions and other meetings. A thesis topic is selected and the student prepares a thesis proposal.

The course includes the study of the thesis proposal accepted by the relevant boards. In this context, the student collects data in accordance with the method of the thesis proposal accepted by the relevant boards, makes statistical analysis of the data and evaluates the findings. In the continuation of the process, the student; write his thesis covering introduction, method, findings and discussion topics. Student defends his / her thesis before exam jury.

In this course, psychological and neuropsychological tests in literature and tests that have been made in research and development studies in Turkey are introduced. The test standardization process and application and scoring of the selected tests are explained. The knowledge and approaches which are necessary for the correct interpretation of the test results are emphasized. Cognitive basics of psychological tests and biological basics of neuropsychological tests are introduced.

The course involves the principles of projective techniques and related theories. The application, evaluation and interpretation of the selected projective techniques are explained.

In this course, neuropsychological tests in literature and tests that have been made in research and development studies in Turkey are introduced. The test standardization process and application and scoring of the selected tests are explained. The knowledge and approaches which are necessary for the correct interpretation of the test results are emphasized. The biological basis of the tests, in this context, the brain structures and processes associated with the test scores are explained.

The first of the aims of this course is to know and examine the mind-body problem. Firstly, structure and processes of the nervous system related to psychological processes are introduced and research methods of neuropsychology are examined. Then the biological basis of cognitive and emotional processes, as well as selected neurological and psychiatric disorders are explained.

In this course, having comprehensive knowledge about the diagnostic groups in DSM-5 has priority. The course provides information about common disorders in the society, discusses the latest developments in diagnostic groups.

 

In this course, the definition, framework and historical process of psychodynamic theory are explained. The aim of the course is to use the acquired knowledge to form a psychodynamic formulation.

In this course, observation and measurement techniques in clinical psychology, new approaches, new concepts and theories of psychotherapy are introduced. Students are encouraged to use acquired knowledge to explain and analyze social events. It is expected from students to interpret the topics they have chosen in terms of their clinical interest.

In the scope of supervision, it is aimed that the students know the professional limits; act in accordance with these limits and ethical principles; as a psychotherapist make a healthy analysis in deciding which psychotherapy technique would be appropriate for the client. Objectives include the application of theoretical knowledge, the assessment of case-by-case and the development of self-knowledge.

In this course personality and psychotherapy theories of different approaches are explained and interpreted. Advantages and disadvantages of theories are discussed comparatively.

The course discusses different approaches in family therapy. The techniques related to the application of approaches in the field are explained and the ability to apply the techniques is developed. Family therapy is applied by dramatization with different approaches.

In this course, ethical theories are introduced and classified. Selected ethical theories are examined deeply. Research and publication ethics, medical ethics and bioethics are examined in depth. Implementation of ethical principles on respecting for professional boundaries, the importance of clinical skills and competencies, solving professional problems, healthy and professional psychotherapeutic decisions are explained and examined.

In this course, it is explained that forensic psychology includes the applications of psychology knowledge in the legal field. The students are informed about the institutions of the branch and the rules and procedures of these institutions. The duties and responsibilities of the forensic psychologist and the ethical rules which is attached to are introduced in detail. Differences between forensic and clinical psychologists are explained and evaluated.
